Biography
Phra Phomsitti

Phra Phomsitti , original name Thongchai, designated dhamma name as “Sukyano”, surname Sukkho.

The Venerable Phra Bhrahmasitti was born on 16 February 1956, 60 years old with 39 rainy season retreats, at 19 Moo 5, Khao Wonk Sub-District, Phra Phutthabat District, Saraburi Province, Thailand.  His father name is Sagneam Sukkho and his mother name is Ton Sukkho.

Current position is a committee member of the Sangha Supreme Council of Thailand, Ecclesiastical Governor of Region 10, the President's of Regulatory office for Overseas Bhammaduta Bhikkhus, and the Abbot of Wat Sraket Rajavaravihara.

 

Academic Standing : Dhamma Scholar - Advanced Level, Bachelor of Arts

Phra Bhrahmasitti accomplished the Advance Level of Dhamma Scholar and received an Honorary Doctorates in Buddhist Studies from Mahamakut Buddhist University.

Ordination

After completing primary education, he was ordained as a novice at Wat Khao Wong, Saraburi Province. He studied the scriptures and finally accomplished the highest level of Dhamma Scholar at the study center of Wat Phrabuddhabat Saraburi Province.
 
Later, at the age of 20 years old he was ordained at consecrated assembly hall of Wat Sraket Rajavaravihara. The most Venerable Somdej Phrabuddhacharaya (Kiew Upaseno) Chairman of the Acting Supreme Patriarch Committee (While holding the priest's ranks as Phra Bhrahmagunabhorn) was the preceptor on 4 March 1976, designated ordination name as “Sukyano”.
 
After ordination, he completed a bachelor's degree, Bachelor of Arts (BA), Faculty of Social Sciences, majoring in Political Science (Public Administration) at Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University.
Phra Bhrahmasitti has dedicated to the Sangha. He earned His Holiness Somdej Phrabuddhacharaya (Kiew Upaseno)’s trust as being the attendant of Bhikkhu (the supporter of Bhikkhu) and worked closely to His Holiness.  Later he became an assistant abbot of Wat Sraket Rajavaravihara, was assigned to oversee and implement the restoration of Brom Banphot (The Golden Mount), renovated the guest house for the monks returning from religious activities in overseas, built the guest house for the international monks and the multi-purpose building for ethics training for youth and the general public
 
Later, Phra Bhrahmasitti was appointed as an advisor to the President's of Regulatory Office for Overseas Bhammaduta Bhikkhus, was responsible for the missionaries in Europe and Scandinavia.  He proposed the real field practicing of missionary in India Before leaving to perform the religious activities around the world.   Moreover, he was assigned by His Holiness Somdej Phrabuddhacharaya (Kiew Upaseno) as a deacon of Thai temple in 15 countries under Wat Sraket Rajavaravihara.  He was the Chairman of the construction of a multipurpose building of three-storeys including the basement at Thai Temple in Oslo, Norway; building the Thai Temple in Sweden, occupying 180 acres at Fredrika, Sweden and the Statue of Walking Buddha Image, 7.30 meters high was enshrined; building the Thai Temple in Waterloo City, Belgium; raising fund for the building of Wat Buddharam in Guam, the United States; Wat Buddharam in Leeds, England; and Wat Buddharam in Scotland, etc.   He was the Chairman of the Royal Kathin ceremony to nine Thai Temples in nine countries in Europe and Scandinavia and conducting Monk's Identification Card in bilingual version (Thai-English) for foreign monk.  Moreover, after the three Thai missionaries who performed religious activities in overseas were died in the United Kingdom, he was assigned by His Holiness Somdej Phrabuddhacharaya (Kiew Upaseno) to establish the fund helping Thai Missionary in overseas.
 

The Relationship among Buddhism

Phra Bhrahmasitti was assigned by His Holiness Somdej Phra Buddhacharaya (Kiew Upaseno) to welcome the Sangha from abroad. He was revered among international Buddhists. He built up friendship with Mahayana monks such as Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, Japan, Indonesia and Singapore, etc. The cooperation in education of University of Sangha, Theravada and Mahayana were achieved on behalf of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, based in China and Hong Kong.
 
Later, he respectfully brought, the oldest Buddhism scriptures of the world, more than 2000-year-old from Norway to display at Buddhamonthon, and permanently enshrined at Wat Sraket Rajavaravihara, Brom Banphot (The Golden Mount). The scripture is very precious, originally from Bamiyan Valley in Afghanistan.
 

The Inter-Religious Relationship

He was the chief of Thai Sangha to build up friendship among inter-religious by travelling the same route in the Year 1972 of His Holiness Somdej Phrabuddhacharaya (Kiew Upaseno), His Holiness Somdej Phramaharatchamangkhlachan (Chuang Warapunyo) and Phra Bhrahmagunabhorn (P.A. Payutto).  He visited to the Vatican City in Rome, Italy, met with Pope Francis of the Christendom and awarded Awakening leadership Award, which was founded by His Holiness Somdej Phrabuddhacharaya to create inter-religious Peace of two religions, as well as discuss the various aspects of religious cooperation.   Also, the connection between religious with the leader of the Church of England was created inside the palace of Henry VIII of England.   This is a place of worship of the Queen of England.   Moreover, the visiting to Pakistan and the Middle East invited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was operated to study the relationship between religions and to interconnect culture and religion.

As the Ecclesiastical Governor of Region 10

Since the year 2011, he was received commandment to the position of the Ecclesiastical Governor, he donated money to set up the fund for the secretary division of the Ecclesiastical Province Governor under the Administration of the Ecclesiastical Governor of Region 10.

He assigned the integrated education policy to the ecclesiastical official monk, for the Pali study, the general education in Dhamma Studies Department, the charity school of Buddhist temples, and Buddhist University. The ecclesiastical official monk must give priority attention to these studies of the Sangha.

He has established the Bali Study Centre of Region 10, from the beginning of the Pali grammar - the fifth level in Buddhist theology and the sixth-ninth level in advance grade in Buddhist theology. The general education in Dhamma Studies Department was developed to be the pilot dhamma studies school. The Promotion Office of the Virtue, Ethics and Security of the Nation, Religion, King has been established to be the Sangha’s training of trainers institute.  He has set up a Sangha help center for the flood victims and dispatching the resource monks to remedy the mind of the flood victims in shelters.  He has encouraged the Sangha under his administrative to use all types of media in dissemination of Buddhism.

He has also encouraged the ecclesiastical official monk under his administrative to study visit in other administrative regions of ecclesiastical official monk, such as North Administrative Region, Central Administrative Region, etc. He has encouraged the arrangement of the major religious event in a new light as Makha Bucha Day, Vesak (Visakha Bucha) Day, Asalha Bucha Day, etc. by inducing the application of new forms of new media to raise people’s awareness of the importance of religion. Moreover, the fund for study tour of ecclesiastical official monks under his administrative in India, China, USA, Italy, France. Denmark, etc. were provided.

Public Assistance

Phra Bhrahmasitti has donated money to help the victims of Tsunami through the Office of the Prime Minister and the Office of National Buddhism. He was assigned by His Holiness Somdej Phrabuddhacharaya for visitting for good spirit and encouraging the monks and novices in the five southern border provinces. The resource monks from The Promotion Office of the Virtue, Ethics and Security of the Nation, Religion, King were dispatched to mind remedy in the five southern border provinces. He also granted fund for construction of Somdej Phrabuddhacharaya Building, monk resident at Wat Pak Nam (Bung Sapang) Ubon Ratchathani Province. He managed the construction of Somdej Phrabuddhacharaya Guest House Building and international guesthouse at Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, Khonkaen campus. He raised fund for renovation of Wat Khao Wong, Phra Phutthabat District, Saraburi Province and expanded temple’s area for more than 24 acres. The nine sheets of Buddha relics were respectfully brought to the major landmarks in Northeastern of Thailand such as Nakhon Ratchasima, Buri Ram, Surin, Si Sa Ket and Ubon Ratchathani.

The Dissemination of Buddhism in the Country

He was assigned by His Holiness Somdej Phrabuddhacharaya for initiation of the first event of seeing in the New Year by praying (Watchnight Service in the Temple) and it is widely popular. Later, the Supreme Sangha Council has a resolution that the arrangement of the event of seeing in the New Year by praying shall be the Sangha’s activities.  The dhamma books were published to contribute to the Buddhists’ worship of Brom Banphot (The Golden Mount), for example, 300,000 copies of the National Religion, History of Buddha Relics, Tourist Guide for Wat Sraket, Dhamma Heals the Mind, Dhamma for the Support of Flood Victims, Bamiyan; the Rich History and a Long Tradition of Dark Age of Religion, 112 Years of Containing the Relics, Cold Snow in the Footprint of Dhamma (Yen Hima Nai Roi Tham), Happiness and Unhappiness Live in our Mind,  Dhamma for Good Children, Bedtime Pray, Chanting: Translation edition by  Wat Sraket. He is the Chairman of the establishment of an online media website named "Jariyatham (Ethics) Channel" and also promotes and encourages the activities of paying respect to the Buddha in 9 temples.

In the Year of 2015

He was received commandment to the position of the abbot of Wat Sraket Rajavaravihara, , the President's of Regulatory Office for Overseas Bhammaduta Bhikkhus. He was also received commandment by the Chairman of the Acting Supreme Patriarch Committee to be a committee member of the Sangha Supreme Council of Thailand.
